Plants
Kernel, ovum, sperm.
Promise, potential, power.
Starter tiny homes.
Cell, atom, letter.
Elemental building blocks.
Small-sized, impactful.
…
Seed, sprout, seedling, birch.
Began tiny, soon grew big.
The mighty life force.
…
In simple, small seeds,
oaks, elms, palms, pine trees await.
And petunias.
In the frail seedling,
already in evidence
each one’s true nature.
In the bushy shrub,
find warmth, safety and cover
the cute quail covey.
And on the tall tree,
scurry six sassy squirrels,
and the bluebirds roost.
…
Graceful neighbor tree,
your foliage’s sharp shadow
looks like leafy lace.
…
The old oak’s striptease
clothes the ground with dry leaves.
Autumn’s warm blanket.
…
Lots of leaves falling,
some trees are falling asleep.
Autumn arriving.
…
Maple greets the winds,
waving hello and goodbye.
Fall is in full swing.
…
Letting go, leaves fall.
One by one, their grand finale.
Quiet surrender.
…
Leaves drop, one by one.
Flowers wilt, fruit rots, we’ll die.
Yet, yes, life goes on.
