Discernment

May our love be deep,

our speech and deeds clear and wise.

Deep, clean rivers flow.

We ask for discernment,

to read the signs,

heed the calls,

learn the ways, 

to manifest

clarity,

calm,

courage,

from our center, 

with all our relations, 

extended in connection, 

trusting wise direction.

May we discern

when, where and how

to manifest our intentions. 

May we verify

that our intentions

lead to our intended impacts. 

May we strive

for coherence and congruence

in our attitudes,

aspirations,

activities,

and actions. 

May we recognize what to do,

And when not much to do.

When to speak, and what to say.

When to shut up, and where we should go.

May we discern when

to step up, and to step down,

to step forward, and to step back,

to step in, and to step out.

May we discern when to step aside,

so that others may pass.

May the voice

and vision of our heart
remain clear enough,

follow the light.

May the surrounding

smog and smoke
not drown its sound

or cloud its sight.

May we be perforated,

penetrated, permeated
by what is good, beautiful,

useful, meaningful.

May we remain awake,

aware, alert, attentive
to see that everything may be

useful, meaningful,

even if not good or beautiful.

May we value the valuable.

May we enjoy the beautiful.

May we recognize

what is in our hands,

and may we handle it

as well as we can.

May we give enough of ourselves.

May we not give up, nor give up on ourselves.
