Action & Persistence

To act, to accept.
When facing adversity,
fitting, helpful, both.

Facing suffering,
neither evade nor invade.
Bear witness, engage.

…

Skillful, soulful speech.
Worthy intentions through wise words.
Nothing more, or less.

Useful, fruitful feat.
Hefty impact through kind deeds.
Nothing more, or less.

Meeting the now, here,
its causes and conditions.
Appropriate actions.

…

The circumstances,
the causes and conditions,
the context, they count.

…

Dissent and debate.
Discuss until dawn, and duel.
With civility.

…

Although fear at times
may make us doubt, shake, shiver,
with courage we win.

With numbed detachment,
they tended to their homes, yards.
They did what they could.

Removed the dry leaves.
Pruned the shrubs, limbed up the trees.
Futile, yes, perhaps.

…

After the fire,
ruins, ashes, sorrows, loss.
Sweeping and cleaning.

After the snowstorm,
fallen giants, floods, frost, grief.
Sawing and clearing.

May we all prepare,
protect what is valuable.
In case ‘it’ happens.

Procrastination
is postponing for later,
what's better done now.

…

With tenacity,
let’s tackle the tough tasks, now.
For the common good.

With caring, courage,
jump onboard, all hands on deck.
Working for what’s good.

With grit, discipline,
determination and faith.
Will rise, stand, and walk.

Walking in the wood,
whether weather warm or cool,
for the soul is food.

Strolling in the ‘hood,
whether feeling bad or good,
elevates the mood.

…

Through light and darkness
we walk, we fall, we go on.
Step by step by step.

Alone, together
we learn, we grow, we keep on.
Little by little.

…

May we be serum,
dew droplets in drought season,
as moisturizers.

May we be soothers,
relieving soreness, sorrows,
as sympathizers.

Some may not ‘get it’,
too closed, too set in their ways.
We try anyway.

Some may not ‘make it’,
too little, late, too far gone.
We try anyway.

Soft belly, strong back.
Inhale, exhale, and repeat,
until doing meets being.

Until daylight comes,
let’s keep on lighting matches.
Drinking moonlit tea.

…

May we lift voices,
to say ‘yes,’ ‘no’ and ‘enough.’
And also, to sing.

May in harmony
our musical notes soar, synched.
Melodic, in tune.

…

In silence, wisdom.
Simply sitting thoughts go by.
In stillness, action.

…

May we put effort.
And then, only afterwards,
Delegate, let go.

…

Kneading takes effort.
Rising happens by itself.
Baking ends the job.
