Virtues

May we start and end
in good faith and with good will
every brand-new day.

May we put effort.
And then, only afterwards,
delegate, let go.

May we shed, let go.
Release the superfluous.
Keep the essentials.

May we be selfless.

May we know satiation.

May we smile serene.

May peace be with you.

May peace be with all of us.

May peace prevail, rule.

In each here and now,

we ask for light,

peace,

love,

in everyone,

from everyone,

for everyone.

May we absorb light

when we inhale.

May we exude peace

when we exhale.

May we emit faith

when we sigh.

May we spread hope

when we sneeze.

May the light of Goodness guide us.

May the peace of Goodness calm us.

May the love of Goodness feed us.

May the power of Goodness

manifest itself in our steps,

come what may.

May we serve as
timber,
tools,
trains,
trainers,
teachers,
temples.

May we serve
as carrier pigeons,
as lighted torches.

May we serve as candles

with Goodness’ light.
May we act as channels

for Goodness’ peace.
May we be carriers

of Goodness’ love.

May the reminder

to love wholeheartedly,

to act and respond

with rooted, radical love

accompany us, center us, calm us,

strengthen us, energize us, guide us.

May each particular action

reflect essential love,

that is,

may our labor

represent Your love.

May we act with reason

charged with comprehension.

May we work with effort

and determination.

May we walk with grace, with grit,

with song, with passion.

May we keep our hearts

fueled with compassion.

May we appreciate,

may we value

those present,

and the presents

of the present

while they are

and while we are

present.

May we appreciate

whatever we see.

May we contribute

fertile seed.

May we speak with veracity,

and act with integrity.

May trust and curiosity

triumph over fear and territoriality.

May humility not undersell confidence.

May confidence not overshadow humility.

May we manifest

gratitude,

awe, appreciation.

May we manifest

wisdom,

gleaned through meditation.

May we manifest

kindness

to every thing, being, and person.

May we try, each day…

To rush less,

pause more.

To waste less,

save more.

To judge less,

accept more.

To harm less,

help heal more.

To fall less,

stay standing more.

To quit less,

persevere more.

May we respond…

To fear

with courage.

To greed

with generosity.

To ignorance

with wisdom.

To hatred

with kindness.

May we have enough…

Calm,

to be able to others calm.

Encouragement,

to be able to encourage.

Motivation,

to be able to motivate.

Inspiration,

to be able to inspire.

Guidance,

to be able to guide.

Support,

to be able to support.

Help,

to be able to be of help.

May we be able to embody and express…

Lucidity

when facing obfuscation.

Equanimity

when facing decompensation.

Serenity

when facing frustration.

Generosity

when facing limitation.

Integrity

when facing temptation.

Kindness

when facing abomination.

Hope

when facing desperation.

In this world

and in this life

there is so, so, so, so much

that is good, beautiful,

wise, holy, whole.

May it triumph.

May it trump, transform, transmute

what seems to lack

sufficient

goodness, beauty,

wisdom, holiness, wholeness.

May we face upcoming

moments, months, millennia

with equanimous enthusiasm,

with enthusiastic equanimity.

May a new day dawn.

May greed into nothingness dissolve.

May Goodness be sowed.

May love grow, grow, grow.

May light and love

triumph over darkness and fear.

May fevers fail

faced with fervor and faith.

‘May it be for Good,’

is a beautiful expression.

It conveys trust, faith,

without a control delusion.

May we not be distracted and distanced

by delirium and delusion.

May the precious be more prominent

than peripheral.

May we not get conned

by the bling, the fake, the flashy, the fluff.

May we not shortchange ourselves

with the banal, the trivial, the superficial.

May importance

be paramount.

May transcendence

take precedence.

May the primordial

precede the inconsequential.

The rest is delusion, illusion, hallucination,

and lesson.

May we not serve as hosts

to deception, delusion,

hatred and fear.

May we graciously host

Goodness, Grace,

light and love.

May anxiety, anguish,

dementia and depression

lose.

May calm, clarity,

connection, compassion

win.

May that which is principled and principal

endure,

persist,

persevere,

prevail.

May patience,

persistence,

resilience

prevail.

May wisdom lead.

May justice rule.

May peace win.

May long live love!

May we long live, love.

May we trust Good, God.

May we breathe life, hope.

May we listen, learn, grow.

With devotional sincerity.

With radical temerity.
