Light
It seems dark out there.
May light illumine our steps,
keep us warm and brave.
May we turn lights on.
May we light up the candles,
make the deep caves glow.
We ask for light
to decipher, discern, decide,
to recognize companions,
touchstones, milestones, destinations.
We ask for light
to remove the cover from Goodness,
to reveal the veiled Goodness,
to repair the broken Goodness.
May, as Rumi prayed…
We dust off our ears,
to echo the voices of the sages.
We pull off night’s cover,
to behold the shining of the suns.
May we recognize
our shadow,
and illuminate it.
May we discover
our light,
and disseminate it.
May we shine, may we illuminate,
for as long as our flame flickers.
May we hear and heed the call
for our light to join the blaze.
May we light neighboring flames,
may we learn to warm cold friends.
May we accept that every flame is extinguished,
sooner or later.
May our light stay turned on
until our life gets turned off.
