Liar
The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Whose truth?
Are so-called white lies truer than black lies, or pink lies?
Pinocchio’s nose grew when he told lies.
Fact or fiction? Is fiction lying?
Some say lying is a sin. Venial or mortal sin?
She hated true or false tests in school.
One day, she lied for the first time. The lie made it an extraordinary day, for it was not an ordinary lie. And they lived with the lie for a long time, a lifetime it felt.
She had always thought of herself an honest person. Did the lie make her any less so?
She wished the lie would turn true. She lied to herself, but it’s not easy to ignore the falseness of a lie. Worse yet, lies grow, and reproduce.
She wanted to undo the lie, to take it back, to go back to living life an honest person. So, she went to confession and told the priest on the other side of the screen that she had lied when she got married, and every day since.
