Dictation

They turn off the music and silence the phone.

Then, they take a deep breath, and sigh. They focus their attention, listen, and take dictation.

The current of the creek chants ceaselessly. The geese blow their bugles. The seagulls resonate like tambourines. ‘Listen to your heart,’ they say, singing in chorus.

The poorly timed murmur of guts interrupts: ‘Listen to me, too!’
