Protection
· Raincoats can’t stop the rain, but can keep us drier.
· Walls can protect from the elements mercifully. They can also separate beings mercilessly.
· The cloister’s roof protects from the complications and the contamination that being roofless brings. Yet, the cloister is open to the inner patio and to what comes from above. Perhaps we can learn from architectural as much as from academic cloisters.
· Our dragons protect us, threatening to burn intruders.
· We can protect ourselves from predictable and preventable problems.
· We can protect the innocence and idealism that inspire and propel us with hope.
