Oracles
Intention:
Definitions for the term oracle include: the response of a divinity to questions about future events; authoritative and wise words or responses. Oracles can have cultural value to collectives, just as they can have intimate and personal meaning to individuals. Many people consult oracles for guidance and inspiration when making important decisions or dealing with difficult situations. For some, consulting oracles is part of their daily life, using them as sources of orientation.
Since oracles can represent a resource for inspiration and validation of our ideas and inclinations as we make every day and momentous decisions, here we dedicate a space for writing down significant messages obtained through oracles.
Instruction:
Think of times in your life when you have consulted oracles, even if it was just for recreational purposes. Examples of widely available oracles are horoscopes, Tarot cards, Viking Runes, the I Ching, and fortune cookies.
Write down oracle messages that have been meaningful to you, be it because they seem to address to your situation, because they have guided you to make decisions, or because they have served you as a source of guidance or support.
Write down the date, circumstances, question or issue, and the type of oracle.
Respond to the oracle initially by writing the first thing that comes to mind. Add comments after reflection and/or conversation with others.
Feel free to include related illustrations, associations, and anecdotes.
We offer some guiding questions below.
Inspection:
· What experiences have contributed to your selection of oracle sources?
· What determines for you whether you will consult oracles?
· What are your beliefs about the validity and value of the oracle messages?
· What emotional reactions arise in you when you consult oracles?
· How did your original responses change or expanded after reflection?
