Good-Enough

They used to clean their home in and out more than they used to walk, wonder or write their heart out. Not anymore.

Dust and dust bunnies still attract their attention, but not as often, not as long. So, they tell the not-so pristine house that when they leave the premises they’d rather leave more lessons lived, learned and shared through spoken and written words, than guests impressed by their cleanliness.

They are comfortable sharing space with some small spiders, whose families need a nest as much as theirs do.

Theirs may not be a spick and span spotless house, but their home is a neat nest indeed, attentively adorned with story-evoking objects and smile-prompting vignettes.

Could arranging things ‘just so’, just because, be a way of saying thanks, a way of caring for, a way of reciprocating the goods and services they receive from the household items in their home habitat? Could neatness be a manifestation, an expression of whatever Goodness lies in order and beauty?

Perhaps clean-enough and neat-enough are good-enough descriptors of homes, and of humans.
