Activists

They are pacifists,

conscientious objectors.

They are activists.

Unsure, worried, scared,

tense, quivering, quavering.

They jump all at once.

They dive off the edge,

emerge on the other side,

shivering, smiling.

They take chances, risks,

willing to lose health, life, all,

for their principles.

They’re taking a stand,

it's a virtuous, valiant stance.

For this, against that.

In spite of fear, doubt,

they show up, stand up, speak up,

with integrity.

Others do this, that. 

With or without truth, justice. 

They do what they do.

They rise, face-off, talk,

push, pull, dialogue, debate.

Justice, finally.
