Growth

o   Feeding nourishes, and pruning promotes growth.

o   Branches grow as roots reach out.

o   We grow when we shed the wrapping that encases us, just as snakes do. And also butterflies.

o   We grow and we learn in solitude and in community.

o   Innocence in childhood >>> Integrity in youth >>> Intelligence in adulthood.

o   Sequence of growth: From infancy’s innocence and vulnerability, to childhood’s enthusiasm and curiosity, to youth’s idealism and energy, to adulthood’s service and productivity, to old age’s wisdom and serenity.

o   Perhaps growth takes the trajectory from wise innocent to naive sage.
